Hey, I’m Miranda Selby

I’m a Naturopathic Wellness & Energy Alignment Coach and the Founder of The Reinvention Rebel.

When speaking with clients, one of the most common questions I’m asked is, “what drew you to a career in holistic health?” or some variation of the same. I often pause before answering this question…

The truth is, there wasn’t a specific moment that pushed me in this direction. Rather, it was the culmination of many moments, years of soul-searching, and quite a few bumps in the road that landed me where I am today. My journey, like so many others, has been far from linear. It has been hit with twists and turns more times than I can count, yet it has planted me exactly where I know I am meant to be.

I was introduced to alternative medicine in my 20s. At the time, I was dealing with a whirlwind of life-altering events: a failed first attempt at college, being fired from both my full-time jobs, filing for bankruptcy and turning my house over to avoid foreclosure, rebounding from a challenging relationship, and reeling from my own near-constant health issues (chronic migraines, insomnia, and recurring bladder infections). I thought I would start over with a career in nursing, hoping it would offer me a sense of direction while simultaneously providing resources to help address my own health concerns. But, plot twist: I hated nursing. With this realization, I felt like I had come to another dead-end until I was introduced to an advisor who pointed me in the direction of alternative medicine. After a lengthy discussion with her, I felt deeply in my bones that she had just uncovered a path that I was meant to follow.

With that, I started a deep dive into alternative medicine and the doors of opportunity began to open. I enrolled in a massage program at the Pyramid Holistic Wellness Center where I was introduced to reiki, fire cupping, halo therapy, and more. Curious to witness the impact of these new modalities first-hand, I began to try them. For the first time, I experienced real improvements in my health and well-being that I had never attained through traditional medicine and healthcare practices. What’s more, I watched the lives of the people around me improve as they found relief through the techniques I was studying. It provided the inspiration and validation I needed to push forward and create a sustainable career for myself.

Over the course of the next decade, my sole focus was furthering my education and bolstering my career. I became a master-level reiki healer, a certified massage therapist, and a trained yoga instructor while I finished my bachelor's degree and ran a thriving wellness center. After earning my bachelor’s, I quickly threw myself back into the world of higher education and began working toward a Doctorate in Naturopathic Medicine. Soon thereafter, my husband and I discovered we were pregnant, gave birth to our son, and made the leap to build our dream house, complete with my own private practice. Then, life decided to throw us a few curveballs. The contractor building our home walked away with our money and no house to speak of. Devastated and damn-near broke, we set out to build the house on our own. Woefully over budget and nearly a year behind schedule, we settled into our new home a mere four months before COVID hit. Classic, right? Forced to shutter my in-person studio, I scrambled to find a way to maintain a connection with my clients, even if I was unable to see them face-to-face. The result? I got scrappy. I finished my doctorate, earned certifications in nutrition, personal training, and virtual coaching, and invested everything I had left to hire a business coach. From this new perspective, I began offering group and one-on-one virtual coaching sessions. I launched a podcast and blog and designed take-at-your-own-pace jumpstart courses for those looking for a place to start on their own wellness journey.

Now, I’m continuing to expand my expertise and seek new certifications based on the practices that have impacted my own life and those I am confident will change the lives of others. I understand that one’s health, wellness, and fitness journeys are not always straightforward and I provide empathetic, no-bullshit coaching to anyone looking for additional support. Most importantly, I encourage my clients to treat themselves with grace, knowing the progress they seek will be there when they’re ready for it because health, just like our lives, should be done on your own terms.
